Franky, who is best friends with Max, is moving to Qatar :( poor Max didn’t see it coming and now his best bud won’t be living next door anymore. So sad. Thanks Franky for all the awesome walks on the beach and for showing Max how to poop outside. We will all miss you buddy.

Well, I must say as hard as I tried to get hold of the aftermath of last night gulf road flames I have come up empty-handed. :( On a separate note a big reason why I couldn’t get any photos is that Max the dog has been sick again. :( Poor puppy has had such a bad stomach bug, he’s had me up 3 times a night cleaning up after him. So this morning we took him to the vet. An injection later and twice daily tablets and he’s already got more bounce in his step. He’s a picture of Max on his new favorite sofa… me…

So poor Max had to have surgery :( We took him to the RAH and they took very good care of him, I was quite impressed.  Turns out the little guy had a missing… ball… anyway they found it, he’s been saved and he’s home, he’s just so freaking miserable! And sore, the poor doggy is so sore. But he’s in good hands and we’ll have him back up on his feet in no time at all :) … watch this space.

I thought I’d share some of the photos with you that I took of the Animal Care mobile grooming company that came to our apartment to sort out Max.

We were really quiet impressed with the whole set up. They arrived at our apartment on time with their little van, the inside was fully equipped with everything they would need to groom any shape or size of dog. 24KD later and Max is a happy, neater more comfortable pup! For their first time with Max, they did a pretty good job. I can see his little eyes now, I knew they were in there somewhere. I will most definitely be using them again.  :)

Max is getting his first real Kuwaiti grooming tomorrow and I can’t wait for him to be all clean-cut again, although I’ve become quiet attached to this little scruff ball :) and if he comes back looking like a little girly poodle I won’t be impressed ;) But he needs a good shaping :)

I contacted the Animal Friends League of Kuwait and they gave me the number of a guy who will come to your apartment to groom your pets, he charges around 24KD depending on the size of the dog. Very convenient from my part and lets see how good they are…

oh, and if anyone is interested, drop me a mail and I will pass along his details.

So now not only does my house smell like puppy poo as he is still not completely trained, it now smells like runny puppy poo. I’ve cleaned and bleached my floors like 5 times today, and the day is not over! It was kinda my fault as I thought I’d spoil him and give him a little something-something mixed in with his pellets which clearly hasn’t agreed with him. Doing some research online as to what to give him to make him feel a bit better, I came across this helpful website. I particularly like their “dogs caught in the act section” maybe a should enter Max?? Anyway, I’m off to make Max a bowl of rice and buy more glade candles. A brilliant way to spend a public holiday. Poor boy Max :(

My little doggy Max is nearly 7 months old now. He really is such a cute dog but he’s quite stubborn too. For one, he refuses to poop outside. I can take him for 100 walks a day, and nothing. The second I leave the house, he poops. I read all the articles, I’ve spoken to professionals and he’s not the first dog I’ve trained. But it’s like he’s shy or something. He wees outside fine enough but oh no, not the pooping thing. My aunt has so kindly decided to send me one of the indoor grass thingies, I’m hoping Max takes to it, my luck – he’ll poop on the floor next to it.

It’s supposed to be as good as grass, and very easy to clean.

Indoor doggy restroom.

I wrongly thought that someone was breaking down the whole property next door, when I woke up this morning I saw that they had only taken the garden, but left the house. Turns out they had taken our little attempt at a garden outside our apartment too. Who’s “they” in this story. The municipality. Turns out these buildings did not have a permit to have a garden… so the municipality stormed in and crushed every plant in sight. Leaving absolute carnage behind them.

This is where we used to have our little row of trees…

And this is what it looks like now.

And this is what is left of the garden next door…

But if you look closely you’ll see that the government left behind a little wire fence which now surrounds the house, ahhhh they shouldn’t have….

What I find funny is that they left one tree behind, one person found use for it…

In a desert, I ask you with tears in my eyes, how can anyone tear down plants let alone expect people to have permit to have them. Shouldn’t they try to encourage people to have them?

What does Max think of all this?

I’d like to introduce you to Max (little dark grey guy) and Franky (bigger light grey guy). Max is the latest addition to our household and Franky is his new best friend and our neighbors dog.

Max is our first dog here in Kuwait and the first dog I’ve had where I live in
an apartment with no garden or patio. So needless to say house training is a time-consuming challenging thing. But Max is worth the patience.

The best part about Max is taking him for early morning walks over the weekends along the Gulf Road. You find quite a few little grassy patches along the seaside which is great when it’s quite. Hence, the early morning part.

But it’s a great way to start the day.
