This is the shocking image that has graced the pages of the Kuwait times today. Is there NO respect left for the dead? Not only has this child died a tragic death in one of the poorest countries in the world he/she now has to have their picture splattered over news stand in Kuwait and online. And what about the family that has been left behind(if any)? They now have this as the last image in their minds of this probably once cheerful child. If they were going for the whole “shock factor” aspect of things to get peoples attention, driving them to a website where they could make donations and support these forgotten people, then ok fine I can find some sort of justification. But putting the image of a dead child being flung around and tossed about like garbage on the front cover of a news paper simply to “up sales” is in my opinion (and I stress MY opinion) shameful and irresponsible journalism. Is their no humanity left? I think this is freaking disgraceful!

I want to help – I’m gonna click here!

Yes ok so disaster strikes everywhere in the world and never at a convenient time. But the earthquake that has hit Haiti is serious. From the poorest country in the Western hemisphere a death toll of over 100 000 people is what they’re looking at. If you’re think you could part with a KD or so, (or a couple of SA rands for that matter) then I ask you to please click on the UNICEF link above and help out a desperate country. It will take you longer to log on to Amazon and waste money on a book you’re never really going to finish reading anyway than to give a small amount and make a big difference.
