Yulia Brodskaya was born in Russia (Moscow); prior to moving to the UK in 2004 she was interested in diverse creative practices ranging from Textile Painting, Origami and Collage to more traditional Fine Art practices. Following an MA in Graphic Communication (2006, University of Hertfordshire) she continued to experiment and explore ways of bringing together all the things she likes most: typography, paper, and highly detailed hand-made craft objects. She has swiftly earned an international reputation for her innovative paper illustrations and continues to create beautifully detailed paper designs for clients all around the world.
Man this is cool, for all you design geeks out there. This is one calendar that will have everyone talking. It’s a simple yet brilliant design by Spanish designer Oscar Diaz Basically you have a bottle of colored ink, and absorbent paper designed in such a way that it takes one full day for the ink to be absorbed by one full number. Every day a number is revealed until you eventually fill the month, and then move onto the next one – brilliant.
The Ink Calendar is shown as part of SUEÑOS DE UN GRIFO.
Diseño con alma de agua at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.
The exhibition explores the role that objects may have in our dialogue with water from different points of view.
Unfortunately it’s not really designed for the everyday man (or woman) on the street but I want one, I really really want one.
When searching for Cape Town accommodation I never thought I’d come across American Trailer Park designs, modernized in a contemporary roof top manner. But here it is. On the rooftop of the Granddaddy hotel in Long street you will find 7 Penthouse Trailers.
Each one of the trailers has been designed by a different Capetonian designer according to their creative spark. Each trailer is fully air-conditioned, with running hot and cold water, coupled with a full mini-bar, satellite TV and room-service. If only I had known about this place in September! But if anyone is heading to Cape Town for the football world cup, it’s worth looking at.
I particularly like how much details the designers go into.
