Well it seems that the 9th floor in our building has flood for the second time. This time leaving water damage behind in our 8th floor apartment. Take a look at these pics… just makes me more determined to find a better place to stay. But it’s really sad because I actually really love living where we do. It’s a fantastic location, modern building, but it’s just becoming one thing after another which is slowly getting under my skin.
I woke up this morning to the sound a bulldozers battling away at concrete flooring. Not a pretty sound when you’re in between La La Land and reality. When I took Max the dog for a walk I inspected closer. Seems they are breaking down the whole 3 story property next door to our apartment. I hope they don’t plan on building yet another high-rise in its place. That would make it the 5th one on the block. Not to mention block my view of Salmiya, which at night can be really pretty. Ok I still have the view of the gulf so I really shouldn’t be too grumpy about it.
But what bothers me more is that this is another lack of preservation of the old buildings in Kuwait. There are so many really beautiful old buildings that are disappearing fast, being replaced by concrete masses with no personality or local relevance. Are there any old buildings that are protected by the government? It would be such a shame if there weren’t.
The house next door still had a garden. ahhh… the luxury!
